This company has been producing artisan organic cheese in Point Reyes Station since 1997. Many of of the cheeses are made with organic milk from the Straus Family Creamery in Marin County. The cheese shop is located in the Tomales Bay Foods store. They are open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 6pm. On Fridays at 11:30am, they offer tours with advance reservations recommended. The tour consists of a 25 minute presentation followed by tasting of Cowgirl Creamery cheeses. The tour costs $3 per person. To get there from San Francisco, follow these directions. From the north side of the Golden Gate bridge, continue going north on Highway 101. Take the San Anselmo/Sir Francis Drake Blvd./Richmond Bridge exit. Bear left on the exit ramp towards San Anselmo. You will be on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Continue on this road for about 45 minutes to the town of Olema. At the blinking light in Olema, turn right towards Point Reyes Station. Go over the green bridge, through town and turn left at the bank. Tomales Bay Foods is at the end of the block. The creamery is inside this store. Driving time from the Golden Gate Bridge to the store is about 1 and 1/2 hours.
