A variety of farmers, ranchers, artisans, and food purveyors bring to the markets a variety of fresh seasonal produce, all natural meats, poultry and dairy, free range eggs, artisanal breads/pastries, regional specialties, home canned/bottled goods, prepared foods, fresh flowers, plants, handcrafted items, and much more. Items will vary some depending on the market, as will special events and entertainment. In addition to the 20 plus Chicago Farmers Markets, there are over 21 independent markets throughout the Chicago area; the Chicago markets are held Tuesday thru Thursday and on Saturday and Sunday. Times, dates, and locations are varied; however the markets usually run from the 1st of May until the end of October.
