Over 12,000 acres of this 54,000 acre forest has been designated wildlands. It is the largest facility in the state forest system, it preserves an important watershed area, and there are a variety of trails (maps available at the office) and recreational opportunities. Fifty-two primitive, self-registering roadside campsites with fire rings and picnic tables are available on a first come first served basis. There are no water hookups at the campgrounds.
