Items to be found at these lively outdoor markets include fresh seasonal produce, free range eggs, herbs, local wines, fresh baked goods, homemade preserves, flowers, potted plants, craft and artistic works, prepared foods and beverages, and much more. They also offer weekly special events, demonstrations, entertainment, and a token program for EBT and credit and debit cards. The markets take place May to October on Tuesdays from 2 pm until 5 pm at the Ellis Health Center parking lot at the corner of McClellan and Bradley, and on Thursdays from 9 am until 1:30pm at the Schenectady City Hall at Franklin and Jay Streets. The Upper Union Street Farmers Market, located in the parking lot behind Trustco Bank (between Woodland and Dean Streets) on Saturdays from 9 am until 1 pm. The Schenectady Greenmarket is also at City Hall on Sundays from 10 am until 2 pm, and the Hamburg Street Merchants Association Farmer's Market takes place at the Rotterdam Senior Center at 2639 Hamburg Street, Rotterdam, NY on Saturdays (rain or shine) from mid-May until September 24th.
