As one of the last undeveloped spaces along the east coast, this park offers a true "back to nature" experience with constant efforts to protect the very diverse environment and its inhabitants, an active education center, history programs, special events, and more. There is no vehicular access, and boat, foot, bike, beach transporter, or tram allow the only accesses and services vary depending on the season. There are 12 primitive campsites available with drinking water and pit toilets nearby. Reservations are required (no exceptions) and can be made on the same day or in advance. This is a carry in/carry out camp area. There are no electric or water hookups at the campgrounds.
